“And the Lord said to Paul one night in a vision, “Do not be afraid, but go on speaking and do not be silent, for I am with you, and no one will attack you to harm you, for I have many in this city who are my people.””
Thought for the day
You’re the God of this city
London, Birmingham, Leeds. Bradford... many of our cities have high concentrations of Muslims.
This means they are able to form strong supportive communities which protect their faith and culture.
This is a natural thing to do for any ex pat group and we can see British people doing exactly the same when they live in other countries.
Another feature of our cities is the variety of ethnic groupings of Muslims.
For instance, you can visit predominantly Turkish, Bangladeshi, Somali, Iranian, Pakistani and Arab areas in London.
This means that the Christians sharing their faith not only need to penetrate an entrenched community but also a specific cultural group.
Are churches ready to meet this challenge?
Often they can be overwhelmed by the needs of their own congregations and may struggle to penetrate the Muslim community around them.
Prayer for the day
Pray that Churches in our cities would be strengthened to go on speaking and that they would meet people whose hearts God has prepared.
