New Beginnings: Millennial Prayer Group Launch

Do you make a New Year’s resolution? Perhaps to be healthier? Exercise more? Take up a new hobby? Whatever your experience of starting something new, it's so encouraging to see small steps of progress. From first thought to seeing your resolve and effort pay off.

One of the strengths of being a relational network is that there’s plenty of space for new growth. New resources are shared, new relationships with our Muslim neighbours are taking root, and new prayer groups are starting. And unlike New Year's resolutions, these new things are not dependent on our effort, but on the grace of God!

"What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?" Romans 8:31

If you haven’t seen already, we’d love to let you know about one of the new prayer groups, a collaboration with London City Mission (LCM). This monthly group is for Christian young adults (aged 18-40) praying specifically for millennial Muslims. It’s an opportunity to connect with other Christians in the UK and pray for millennial Muslims to know the love of Jesus and follow Him.

Annie, who works with LCM, is facilitating the meetings. After a successful soft launch in December, the first official meeting will be held on Monday 31st January, 7 - 7.45pm. Sign up here to register your interest, and please forward this email to any students or young adults who would love to join us.

We asked Annie why she’s starting this group and a bit more about how it will work.

Tell us a bit about yourself? Do you have any New Year’s Resolutions?

I'm Annie, I'm married to a wonderful man. I'm passionate about equipping churches to share the love of God and good news of Jesus Christ with Muslims. Yes, my New Year's Resolution is a more general aspiration to live by faith and not fear!

How did you feel led to start this group?

My hope is for God to raise up Christian young adults across the country to pray for and share the love of Jesus with Muslims. I long to see a sovereign move of the Holy Spirit among millennial Muslims - that many will find and follow Jesus!

What can people expect?

A warm welcome into a community of Christian young adults, monthly online gatherings where we'll together learn about and pray for millennials of a Muslim background, and encouragement to take opportunities to befriend and witness to Muslims locally. Don’t worry! You don’t have to pray out loud, and you can have your camera off if you prefer.

Where can they sign up?

Board of Trustees News

We're hugely grateful to all those in Mahabba who pray, engage and volunteer. One of our longstanding volunteers, Bryan Knell, recently stood down as chair of Mahabba's Board of Trustees. Bryan served faithfully over 10 years, and helped steer Mahabba through the ups and the downs! Bryan continues to be involved with Mahabba, praying and getting involved enthusiastically with the resettlement of Afghans in Watford.
