Mahabba VISION, VALUES & MISSION
Mahabba is a network built on prayer and relationships, which is growing in different ways, and in different locations.
Mahabba is a very flexible, but if a local Mahabba group wishes to regard itself as part of the overall Mahabba Network, or use the Mahabba name, it must, enthusiastically and with integrity, share the vision and values that make up the basic DNA of the Mahabba Network.
Vision of Mahabba
“Mahabba exists to awaken followers of Jesus to love, pray and share faith with Muslim people.”
This is the vision that every Mahabba initiative adopts and towards which it is proactively working.
Values of Mahabba
Prayer, collaboration and love for all Muslims (we define loving all Muslims by ‘holding love and truth together’).
Prayer
Mahabba was birthed in prayer. We wholeheartedly acknowledge that this ministry is God's work, and so we depend on him in prayer, both in our local groups and across the Network. Every Mahabba group meets regularly for prayer, and we also gather regularly online for prayer as a whole Network.
Collaboration
Each local Mahabba group is joined to the National Mahabba Network and its vision to awaken all followers of Jesus in the UK to share their faith with Muslim people. We invite everyone to collaborate in the life of the Network, helping to grow Mahabba's vision and aims across the UK - through participation in our online activities and our annual conference.
Love for Muslim people
The word ‘Mahabba’ means ‘love’ in Arabic and we’re committed to living out a life of love in the way we share our faith with Muslims. Our greatest gift of love is Jesus himself, and we follow his example in loving our Muslim neighbours.
Every Mahabba group adopts the ‘Ethical Guidelines for Christian & Muslim Witness in Britain’ as one of the ways to demonstrate love, respect & graciousness towards Muslims.
MISSION OF MAHABBA
Mahabba operates as a relational network by:
Encouraging prayer - Helping to grow regular, persistent prayer for Muslims.
Enabling all Christians - Equip followers of Jesus to build loving friendships with Muslim people. Helping them to see the opportunities, grow in confidence, build friendships and share Jesus with Muslims.
Envisioning the Christian community - Inspire followers of Jesus with what God is doing among Muslims and help churches see their own vision for Muslims fulfilled.
Engaging with Muslims - Support all Christians in sharing Jesus - from first contact through to discipleship and community.
We invite all groups and members to enthusiastically embrace a shared ownership of the Network's vision, values and mission.
