Reflecting and Anticipating

The summer is often a time when things slow down as people take time for holiday and relaxation. This provides a great opportunity to reflect on the year so far and to look forward to the autumn term. We at Mahabba thought we’d do the same and share some thoughts with you.

New to the website

You may have missed some new additions to our resources page. We have two new articles about going on the Hajj and Umrah:

Why do our Muslim friends go to Mecca?

My Muslim friends on the Hajj

We also have a new book review on Storytellers by Bernie Powers. Check it out here.

Popular on the website

Take a look at these pages on our website. They have been some of the most popular pages this year.

Coming in the autumn

Here are a few things that you may want to make a note of in your diaries to either attend or pray about.

Mahabba Network wide biannual online prayer event

Date: Fri 7th October
Time: 19:30-20:30

There will be worship, prayer for Mahabba Network wide needs and some input from some other like-minded ministries. We are inviting groups that wish to, to meet physically locally and join the call on one device. The 'input' of the meeting will be online and the 'breakout groups' will then be 'in person' among the local groups where they are gathered. Groups and individuals that prefer to join on individual devices can still do so.  Their breakout groups will be in virtual groups.

Circle members meeting

Date: 23rd and 24th November

A face-to-face meeting for Circle Members in Birmingham. Circles are the working groups of Mahabba. Meeting together in person is so important for relationships, creativity and spirituality.

I-Connect course

For women new to building relationships with Muslim women look out for the I-Connect course being run by the When Women Speak Network. You will meet others like you who are building links with Muslim women and wanting to share life and faith stories with them whether in the context of stay and play, the school gate, at work…and the learning is both informative but offering discussion and reflection.

Women’s I-View course

For women who have more experience but would like opportunity to engage in wider reading, reflection and discussion with others also engaging, there will be the Women’s I-View course in the Autumn.

Enquire or register for both using CathyHine@whenwomenspeak.net

These events all tie in with our Mahabba vision: encouraging prayer, enabling all Christians, envisioning the Christian community and engaging with Muslims. Please consider if you can be a part of them to help make this vision grow.

Meet the volunteer

Chas and Nicola are coordinators for Mahabba Croydon.  Chas also chairs the Prayer Circle and the Circle Holders meeting.

My wife Nicola and I live in Croydon, London. After eight years ministering in the Middle East we returned to the UK. God placed a burden on our hearts to share the love of God with our Muslim neighbours across the bridge of loving relationships. We also wanted to encourage other Christians in the UK to do the same. When we were introduced to Mahabba we found they had the same heart and vision as us and so we joined Mahabba over ten years ago. We also have a passion to see believers from a Muslim background transformed through meaningful community and prayer ministry.
