Action & Impact October Update

Croydon Event

On Saturday, the Croydon Mahabba group helped host the 7th Hope event, designed for people to bring a friend from another faith background. Theme was creativity and diversity with an African focus. As well as a meal with African dishes, there was singing from Somalia, poetry, art, a story and a talk on the theme. During the singing people from different cultures – Turkey, Iran, Somalia – got up to dance in a joyful example of our oneness despite our different backgrounds and faiths. At the end people were invited to receive prayer, and Hope magazines from the Gideons were handed out to each guest.

Feedback from a Muslim family:

Millennial Group

Do pray for the Millenial group as they meet together on Mon 7th November. This group, aged 18-40, meet on the first Monday of the month to share prayers for their Muslim friends, neighbours and colleagues.

More to Mahabba

The Mahabba area groups are at the very heart of what we do, but there’s also more to Mahabba. Every Friday we host Juma prayers at 12pm on Zoom – email us for the details on hello@mahabbanetwork.com – and once a month we pray on a Thursday morning for network needs.

Our latest Network Update highlighted the Resource Circle, which exists to take the headache out of choosing what resources to use. The circle provides posts on our website about how to engage with Muslims – as an individual, as a group, in different languages. There is information for churches, suggested courses that you can do and book reviews.

Mahabba uses Discourse to host lively discussion between members – questions, ideas, hot topics. Sign up on the website to get access to this. We also have a presence on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

P.S.

Don’t forget to pray for the face-to-face event for those in Mahabba circles, 23rd-24th November.
